Signs ADHD may be affecting your adult life

• Starting tasks easily but rarely finishing them

• Losing track of time, deadlines, keys or bills

• Feeling restless, or like your mind never shuts off

• Feeling overwhelmed by work that seems easy for others

• Being told you're "not living up to your potential"

Did you know? Many adults, especially women, are first treated for anxiety or depression before ADHD is considered. ADHD also runs strongly in families, so it's common for a parent to recognize their own symptoms after a child is diagnosed.

What our ADHD evaluation includes

Your first visit is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation of about 90 minutes, in person in Longwood or Clermont or by secure video. We review your symptoms from childhood to now; your work, school, relationships and sleep; and screen for conditions that can look like ADHD or occur alongside it, such as anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder. We use standardized rating scales and a very thorough evaluation, and you leave with a clear explanation and a treatment plan.

Did you know? Women are formally diagnosed with ADHD at an average age of about 29 years old, while men are diagnosed at an average age of about 24 years old. Poor sleep, thyroid problems and anxiety can all mimic ADHD as well.

ADHD treatment options

Treatment is individualized and may include stimulant or non-stimulant medication, follow-up visits (usually 20 to 30 minutes) to monitor for progress, fine-tune dose and address any side effects, and referrals for therapy or coaching are highly recommended.

Did you know? ADHD medications are among the most effective treatments in all of psychiatry, and stimulants often work within the first day or two rather than taking weeks. Your dose is adjusted gradually to find the lowest one that works well for you.

ADHD care by telehealth

ADHD evaluations and medication management, including controlled medications, are currently available by telehealth for patients located in Florida. Federal DEA rules for telehealth prescribing are expected to change in 2027. If they do, some patients may need an occasional in-person visit at our Longwood or Clermont office, and we'll let you know well in advance.

Cost and insurance

We accept Aetna, Florida Blue/BCBS, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare/Optum/UBH, Oscar, AvMed, Oxford, UMR and Medicare. Self-pay rates are $225 for the initial evaluation and $90 for follow-ups. We don't accept Medicaid plans.
