Signs of OCD people often miss
• Unwanted, repeated thoughts, images or urges that feel upsetting or "not like you"
• Repeated checking, washing, counting or arranging
• Needing things to feel "just right" before you can move on
• Asking for reassurance over and over
• Rituals or mental reviewing that take more than an hour a day
Did you know? Many people with OCD have intrusive thoughts about harming someone, doing something inappropriate or offending their faith, and they are horrified by them. Having these thoughts doesn't mean you want to act on them; the distress they cause is part of OCD. Shame keeps many people quiet for years before they ask for help.
OCD often starts in childhood or the teen years. Kids may hide their rituals, or ask parents to join in, like answering the same question again and again.
What our OCD evaluation includes
Your first visit is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation of about 90 minutes, in person in Longwood or Clermont or by secure video. We review your thoughts and rituals and how much time they take, your health history and past treatment, and screen for related conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD and tics. You leave with a clear explanation and a treatment plan.
Did you know? OCD is often mistaken for anxiety or perfectionism. Reassurance and avoidance feel like they help in the moment, but they keep the OCD cycle going, which is why treatment focuses on breaking that loop.
OCD treatment options
Treatment is individualized and may include medication, follow-up visits (usually 20 to 30 minutes) to monitor for progress, adjust the dose, and referrals for therapy such as exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy. Medication and ERP together often work best.
Did you know? SSRIs for OCD are often used at higher doses than for depression and can take 8 weeks to show their full effect, so patience pays off. ERP helps you face triggers step by step without doing the ritual, and most people who complete it see real improvement.
OCD care by telehealth
Evaluations and follow-up visits are available by secure video for patients located in Florida at the time of the visit. Being seen from home can make it easier to talk about thoughts that feel hard to say out loud. If an in-person visit is preferred, you can see us in Longwood or Clermont.

We accept Aetna, Florida Blue/BCBS, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare/Optum/UBH, Oscar, AvMed, Oxford, UMR and Medicare. Self-pay rates are $225 for the initial evaluation and $90 for follow-ups. We don't accept Medicaid plans.
